Superheros share a common mission - to rid the world of injustice. Each are endowed with skills that allow them to battle certain problems within a given arena. And, of course, they each have an archenemy.
Women are superheros. They have fought for centuries, and continue the fight, to free women worldwide from tyranny, cruelty, discrimination, intolerance, and inequality.
In the United States, women actively fought for the right to vote for 72 years (1848 to 1920). Their archenemy wasn’t men, per se, but the fear men felt at the prospect of living in a different world, one where they didn’t control everyone and everything. Patriarchal power was ubiquitous and unquestioned, which meant it extended to women’s right to vote - until our suffrage superheros took on the establishment.
Today, women have accomplished a lot and continue the fight. Claim your inner superhero! Fight your own injustices: political, civil, institutional, domestic, and foreign.
Currently, women enjoy a rich array of freedoms because of the battles waged by intrepid women who came before them - superheros who fought to right the wrongs of their time.
