G reta Thunberg, born 3 January 2003, is a climate activist who came to international attention with her climate change speech How Dare You presented to the United Nations in September 2019. To further emphasize the desperate state of our planet and the need for immediate change on the part of all earth’s citizens, Thunberg sailed from her home in Sweden across the Atlantic Ocean to the U.N. meeting in New York in lieu of flying on a plane.
Ms. Thunberg was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2019 for her work that galvanized the world’s youth to demand that the world’s leaders look past politics and profits to make needed policy changes that will leave future generations with a planet on which they can thrive.
At a World Economic Forum, Thunberg said,”I don’t want you to be hopeful, I want you to panic.”
